I have a few concerns regarding the article by Betty Jean Craige in the February 2013 edition of Parrots magazine, "Why it's not natural for Cosmo to be subservient." The article, while supposedly encouraging natural parrot behaviour, shows a distinct disregard for parrot safety and in places suggests irresponsibility.

Dr Kerr makes some good points, but there are some other points with which I disagree, but all of them parrot lovers have a right to hear.

I have always taken every possible precaution to keep my birds safe, but losing Spike just goes to show, however careful we are, something can still go wrong...

Thank you for your latest parrot news pages in the January issue. Anything about feather-plucking gets my attention as my parrot has the same habit. This issue had many helpful stories. I was glad to read, "Daily walk halts feather-plucking." When the weather was warmer I took my parrot for walks around the block and enjoyed it.
