Stella’s Lorikeet – A unique bird in many ways

The Stella’s Lorikeet (Charmosyna papou) is surely one of the world’s most colourful, lively and elegant birds.  It is easily recognisable by its two long central tail feathers that often narrow to less than ½in (1cm) in width and measure up to 10.6in (27cm) in length.  This naturally friendly and endearing bird has one of the longest tails compared to body size in the world.
