Bringing Another Parrot Home

Spreads for web 2

By Sally Blanchard

Over the years I have had many people seek my advice about getting another parrot.  They usually want to know what kind of parrot would get along best with the one they have. There is rarely an easy answer because there are so many variables in regards to individual personalities within a particular species. It also has a lot to do with the ages and genders of the birds and the personalities of the caregivers. I have to get people past the many generalisations they believe before I can give advice that is really appropriate. A careful choice is more important with a second bird than with the first bird and people need to introduce the two birds carefully. Getting a healthy bird from a reliable source will keep your first bird healthy.
