This is a picture of our blue and gold macaw, Jake, with Ben, our retired racing greyhound. Ben looks a bit wary, but after he died earlier this year, Jake really missed him, calling 'en, 'en... and barking. He even tried his usual trick to get Ben's attention: throwing food out of his cage. He has realised that Ben is not here, and is now back to being his loving little self. Elaine Hanning

This Hyacinth Macaw is just like a big docile teddy bear. Despite the power of their beaks they are just so gentle and amazing, their plumage is so perfect that at times you don't think they're real. Valerie, Sussex.

I bought my baby Greenwing Macaw just over five years ago now and he is just as lovely and sweet as this picture shows - Josie, Aylesbury.
