Dear Parrots magazine,

Spix’s will fly free again

I was thrilled to read in the August 2012 issue of Parrots that in the next decade a small flock of Spix’s macaws will be reintroduced to the wild, in the first of several planned releases.

The number of parrots and other animals too, currently facing extinction is very upsetting and unfortunately a sign of the times we live in. It just shows how destructive human greed really is, in forcing the natural world into irreversible decline in many, many situations and regions. Thank goodness for conservationists around the world fighting to save the forests and our parrots.
