Dear Parrots magazine,

No more clipping

Reading many articles about wing-clipping, it would seem that opinion is weighted in favour of keeping birds fully flighted. Well, I have to say that I am against clipping a parrot’s wings.

I took this man’s advice and had the wings clipped. It was carried out by a friend of the seller who cut the feathers right back. I was a bit taken back when I witnessed this done and quickly started to become unhappy as the bird looked very untidy and didn’t appear happy with its new short wings. My Galah has now started to pick at the cut and broken feather quills and I am dreading it turning out to be a strong case for feather plucking. I have my fingers crossed.
