Dear Parrots magazine,

Flying Free

We seem to be reading a lot about free flying these days, in not just this magazine, but other publications too. I have always wanted to see my Green-winged Macaw fly freely but just have not got the courage to try it.

I have seen parrots free flying at bird parks and remember clearly when visiting Rode Bird Gardens before it closed, and seeing Green-wings flying across and landing in the trees, an amazing sight.

I can see the attraction in this but would urge great caution unless you are expert at it, although having said that, I have not heard of any birds being lost when free flying. But what a great sight to see them doing what nature intended.
