Dear Parrots magazine,
I was delighted to see in the February issue an article on the Chattering Lory. I have had a pair now for about eight years and they are kept in a large flight, just outside my kitchen, where I can see them most of the time. Although I bought them as a pair, I am not convinced that they are in fact a pair as they have never bred, although I was told that they are a male and female.
Unfortunately a lot of people are put off because they are a nectar-feeding bird, but with reasonable care and attention, they can be kept successfully and provide much enjoyment.
