Contributors Guide
Some publication requirements and useful information about our magazine
are listed below, for anyone interested in contributing to Parrots. |
| . |
| Parrots magazine is a monthly full-colour consumer magazine that deals exclusively with all species of parrots and parakeets. The articles we publish focus on all members of the parrot family, including budgies, amazons, cockatoos, cockatiels, macaws, lovebirds, lories, lorikeets, conures etc. Each month we aim to provide our readers with a variety of articles dealing with veterinary health, breeding, pets, conservation, bird behaviour and general parrot information. In addition there is a classified section where readers can buy and sell birds and accessories. We are also happy to consider pet stories sent in by readers. If you are interested in writing for the magazine, we suggest you begin by familiarising yourself with the publication by reading some of the previous issues to see what type of material we use. A sample copy of our magazine is available for £3.50, which can be ordered through our editorial offices or on our website. |

Parrots magazine will consider unsolicited articles or queries, providing they are submitted in an appropriate format. We prefer any initial enquiries be made by post, e-mail or fax as editors are usually working under pressure and cannot always devote enough time on the telephone. Handwritten manuscripts can often be difficult to read which means that they may not receive the consideration they justify. We would therefore ask that manuscripts submitted as hard copy be clearly printed out and preferably accompanied with a diskette containing the material. Unsolicited material will be returned at the writer’s request. We do not guarantee that unsolicited articles that are accepted will appear in a particular issue unless other arrangements have been arranged by the editor concerned. |

Good quality photographs or artwork may contribute greatly to the chance that your work will be accepted for publication. Photos should be supplied as sharp, 35mm or medium format transparencies (or slides in the case of ‘35mm’). The better quality the photos, the more the chance there is of acceptance. We can also accept photographic prints (not computer generated prints unless of professional quality) and high-resolution j-pegs, eps, tif or pdf files. All pictures must be clearly marked with captions for the subject and return address details. |
| . |
The length of articles we publish varies from 600 words to 4000 words. Articles are based on approximately 600 words per page including photos. We can use text created in QuarkXpress, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Works, text (.txt) or (.rtf) documents. All manuscripts will be reviewed for the appropriateness of publication in our magazine. We reserve the right to edit, change, delete or add to articles as we deem appropriate. All submitted work should be original unless otherwise agreed with the publisher/ editor, and are published on a first time rights worldwide basis. |

Imax Publishing cannot be held responsible for the security of material
including pictures, although every effort is made to ensure that it is
kept in good condition. Photos are returned after publication. |
